We definitely need more tool roads.

I will say this, I sent a video of a DOTD crew throwing trash in the ditch directly to Shawn Wilson and that guy was fired about 6hrs later. He’s not a bad guy, DOT just employs way too many people who don’t do anything and the contractors gouge the hell out of the taxpayer.

Roads for tools to drive.

but if Texas uses them I guess we need them.

He’s not a bad guy, remember his boss loves bloated government and has a lot of buddies to pay off, so he has the same problem all the state agency heads have, he’s not really allowed to make decisions.

During ww2 they built a road from Washington state to Alaska in less than 2 years. They built thousands of bridges, some extremely large, with a railroad track adjacent it.
The 6 mile stretch of I10 at highland road has been being built for 2 years and they are not half way done yet. Why?

That's a toll road in The Netherlands.

What specifically did Wilson do, or not do, that you don’t like? Is there a project he oversaw or designed you don’t like or are you upset about roads that were built before he got there?
And don’t compare our roads to other states. We refuse to pay taxes. You can’t buy nice things like roads and schools when we give tax breaks to our main businesses and refuse to pass tax increases. You get what you pay for.
I’m not saying Wilson is good or bad, but your opinion seems shortsighted and not very well thought out.

Next leader of Louisiana's DOTD needs to be an outside hire from Texas or a state with amazing infrastructure.

This is one of the many problems.
Nearly every project requires a contractor instead of self contracting with existing number of workers and having the right equipment.
There are way too many pencil pushers looking at future LA roads that will never be built instead of attacking today’s needs.

What specifically did Wilson do, or not do, that you don’t like?
Rather than jump in front of that parade supporting the effort, he hemmed and hawed. "Ahhh, well, we need to take a deeper look..." In other words, "We need to do a study." No, no more fricking studies are needed to replace the I-10 bridge in Lake Charles.
Put a private firm on it, let them figure out how to pay for it, and get out of their way.

Roads in Iraq > Acadia Parish

Baton Rouge has two major problems.
1 Not enough cross roads to link the major through ways. This is not a Federal or state problem. That’s local.
2 Major population boom from the Katrina refugees. Now that is a local, state, and Federal issue.
Now if you wish to solve your problem with toll roads, I wish you well. But two observations: you need high traffic for the tolls to cover cost and its close to impossible to get the tolls removed after they pay the structure off. As far as traffic, you do realize that Greater Houston has more people than the entirety of Louisiana. And why should the locals pay for construction and maintenance when the rest of the state gets the whole state to pay for it?
The problem is the waste, fraud, and miss allocation of state funds. This problem goes back to French and Spanish colonial times, became worse through Reconstruction, exploded under Huey Long, became codified in Edwin Edwards’ Constitution, and is alive and well under Tax and Spend JBE.
If you wish to borrow from Texas to fix our problems, ignore the toll roads, and copy their constitution. Maybe we can send them JBE too!

They have a big complex right by the governor’s mansion and if money is as tight as they say; you have wonder what all these employees do.
