A republican is not winning the first round outright. The goal is to keep JBE from getting past 50% and force him into a runoff where he will be extremely vulnerable.

In the same election cycle where JBE beat Vitter, those same voters elected an absolute moron for Lt. Gov in Pinky Nungesser over a qualified and best fit for the job democrat in Kip Holden.

You are mixing apples and oranges.
A poll should be a cross sample of the electorate, not a cross section of a particular race.
The fact is and you are right, many of those registered Dems vote Republican more often than not.
