Can anyone find this for me? For Mattis being so beloved by so many Marines, I find odd that it seems difficult to find his (Citations). FWIW, I'm a Marine who spent 10+ years on active duty deploying twice to Iraq and once to Afg. I've seen the arguments on here and would like to learn more about his service. Not looking to get into arguments, but personally, I've always found the cult like following of Mattis weird tbh. TIA

I am shocked. It seems Mattis went to some awards dinner comedy roast type thing...He does a shout out to Chuck Schumer and compares himself to Meryl Streep, as being the world's most overrated General, she was called an overrated actress...

It is obvious to me he is a Pentagon Military industrial complex pentagon pimp with neocon dem leaning politics... but what I can't fathom is him calling his CIC-- Donald Trump. The hate is rancid...

I am shocked that TigerInDC AND TigerDoc didn't post this dem talking point; to hate Trump trending on twitter orange man bad 'gotcha' at 0500 this morning.

To show your politics is one thing, (and giving Schumer a shout out seals this) but to not refer to him as CIC or President tells me Mattis is a snake in the grass neocon democrat before country. It is both shocking and sad.

He's an officer so while he may have some legit awards, most will probably for not getting a papercut for 6 month types.

Yeah I looked through the Google and looked at his stack and it's pretty meh for how much love he gets. Dont get me wrong, hes a fellow Marine and great leader, but being as hyped he is, I've never really looked into it. Waiting to get blown up for this thread, but I really dont care.

The V is for valor, signifying it wasn't for paper pushing.

Yet his wiki page says nothing about it nor did I note him being in combat.

if you think of the Govt like a big corporation, the best sales and ops people almost never make it to the Exec Level.

Correct - there are fairly narrow criteria, but it is the lowest medal ordinarily awarded for valor/heroism under fire.

He commanded a battalion in Desert Storm, a Regiment in Afghanistan and a Division in Iraq. As our involvement in SW Asia escalated, so did his career- but those are all tactical combat assignments even if one didn't consider his operational and strategic command postings.

The cult of Mattis derived from many being programmed to glorify war by watching it LIVE on CNN years ago. (With embedded reporters) We were lied to with a shady CIA and all govt. agencies regarding fake intel... To: justify war as being righteous and not just for officials making money and back door deals for gas pipelines and what not..

SA was behind 911. ISIS was created by Obama and McCain neocons and others.

The ones like Bill Kristol that are still neocons blows my mind. They are fat bank accts first; over country just like the D's and R's and the overrated Generals and JCS Pentagon pimps.

I think Admiral Lyons-RIP Died: December 12, 2018 was a real hero more worthy of praise and admiration.

Ha, a guy who was a career desk jockey and commanded a couple of ships in peacetime is more of a hero than Mattis because he said the "right" things politically after he retired?

You might want to re-think that one.

You won't get blown up. (Maybe DVed by the wussy progs that post here because Mattis is now their hero) Your OP is an excellent point, who would think to check his citations?

Aside from his military service. Listen to the video he calls out what we are watching now. The R's and the Ds are tainted; and I admitted in my last post R's got caught up in neoconism. So you bet overall I respect Lyons more then Mattis. Mattis is now a 'political democrat hero' on twitter trending as a gotcha to Trump.

Eh, it's not like he had a lot of opportunity as a junior officer. The one time he was actually in combat prior to becoming a flag officer - Gulf War - he won a BSM-V.

There wasn't anyone racking up Silver Stars and DSC's prior to 2001.

And Mattis will say something next week that will piss off liberals. In fact, he did just that about five weeks ago with his comments about women in combat units. Unlike many of you, he speaks his mind independently and doesn't really give a shite what people think. He certainly doesn't worship any presidents, especially and including this one. His public thoughts on the Obama administration, among others, make that clear.

You all are fluffing your danders because he's now calling it as he sees it with your precious Trump.

Defense Distinguished Service Medal (2)
Navy Distinguished Service Medal
Defense Superior Service Medal
Legion of Merit
Bronze Star Medal (with Valor)
Meritorious Service Medal (3)

According to this: wiki

In December 2001 an airstrike carried out by a B-52 bomber inadvertently targeted a position held by U.S. special operations troops and Afghan militiamen in Urozgan Province. Numerous men were wounded in the incident, but Mattis repeatedly refused to dispatch helicopters from the nearby Camp Rhino to recover them, citing operational safety concerns. Instead an Air Force helicopter flew from Uzbekistan to ferry the men to the Marine Corps base where helicopters sat readily available but unauthorized to fly. Captain Jason Amerine blamed the delay caused by Mattis's refusal to order a rescue operation for the deaths of several men. Amerine wrote, "Every element in Afghanistan tried to help us except the closest friendly unit, commanded by Mattis," though he also wrote that "none of that was assessed properly because the [5th Special Forces Group] chose not to call for a formal investigation"

Pretty damning shite here - one reason I never cared for him... The politician in him got the best of him... Had there been a formal review, no way in hell he gets past one star...

More than likely got his Bronze Star with V for Desert Storm.

Your argument leaves the reader thinking Mattis is apolitical and Independent. I doubt it as you don't get where he has being apolitical, but I don't care. What I do care about is he mirrors the neocon McCain types foreign policy.

Mattis calls out tribalism (mirrors Obama's talking points) He may have criticized Obama as well. But don't dare say he is apolitical.

Let him run for President since he doesn't agree with anyone's foreign policy.
