If we are going to have freedom of speech, this should not be allowed. I know, I know, I am against most government intrusion, but this is different to me because these companies are so large and have the ability to silence or restrict the access to information from so many and they seem to do so with a political motive.

If i write a letter to the editor of my local newspaper and they dont publish it, is that censorship?

Maybe if they weren't filled with crack pot conspiracy theories and bald face lies they wouldn't be having this problem. These companies are doing the American public a huge service by doing this.

This is false. There are alternatives, they just aren't as popular/lucrative.

That's bs. Advertisement via Google expanded their business. That's worse than the Obama comment.

Then they should be able to switch to a competing service fairly painlessly.

Rightside Broadcasting: This YouTube Channel had millions of views before the election. Since 2016 YouTube has shadow-banned all of their videos. YouTube has classified its videos of President Trump at a rally as hate speech. YouTube has demonetized hundreds of its videos. YouTube hides its videos. Income for the site is down 95% since the election.

I don't know about the others but this one is 100% true. Rigthside used to be the #1 result on youtube when searching for 'trump speech' and now it will not appear at all in search results. Only by typing in the channel name and going to it can you find any if their videos.

That's BS too. If I pay you for a service and you take that money, then you should provide that service. Shadow banning should be illegal.

They are all true. The liberals and socialists in this thread are all over the place trying to find a way to make this ok.

Example "Blacklisted". 9th wanted HIS definition of the word used. It doesn't matter that it's NOT the definition. When pointed out.... he still continued to to shout "Liar".

All of these are true.

im not shouting a thing.

I asked if someone not being compensated for their content means that they are being censored. You have yet to answer.

I asked you to point out where the examples of censorship are from your cited article. you have yet to answer.

You advised me to read the OP. I did. Its not in there.

I wouldn't support this even if these companies were only censoring leftist publications. I don't believe in any censorship on the internet. It's quite clear from the comments in this thread that the left supports censorship of opposing points of view, showing once again who the true fascists really are.

That's what I personally use ... but that's not the point.

The point is that Google is now bigger than Standard Oil was when the government decided to split-up Standard to keep it from controlling the consumer gas market.

The point is that FB is now bigger than AT&T was when the government decided to split-up AT&T to keep it from controlling the U.S. land line data market.

Google is a monopoly ... period. It's time to bust them up.

Amazon is fast becoming a monopoly.

That's not for you or these companies to decide. I don't need a nanny state to tell me, directly or indirectly, what information I can consume and the validity of it.

...because you dont like them and their policies. Just be honest. There is no way that they are threatening any of your freedoms. You just got spoiled that most corporations over the years have been very right leaning and now that it's going the other way you don't like it.

So you want to use the government to limit them though? Sounds like you would like to do the same exact thing but just to them. Makes you a big old hypocrite

I don't think you know what a monopoly is.

Or why Standard Oil and AT&T were broken up.

It's troubling to say the least and, you would think, it brings into play the possibility that these tech giants are seriously infringing upon some of our 1st Amendment Rights.

The 1st Amendment protects us from GOVERNMENT censorship, not censorship in the market.

Which brings me to ask, why have conservatives allowed liberals to virtually corner the market in the media, education and social media sectors? If conservatives don't like how the liberals are running certain things, why don't they offer alternative competition?

Just like a liberal to just bitch and moan about something, and cry about their 'rights', instead of actually doing something about it.

Better yet, let me answer your question ... but may I ask a question of you before I do?

Ok, here goes.
