Ummmm.....kinda the US’s fault for Iran.
I’d blame the Soviets on the fall of Afghanistan, though we bear partial blame as well.
Our gov’t has done some really fricked up things abroad.

So, you're saying Iran was more liberal back then?

Like a tranquilized gorilla is more liberal.

Yep one of my best friends had parents born and raised in Afghanistan and Iran and both from the pictures I have seen were absolutely beautiful.

Not sure I am following. It is definitely a complicated history between the US and Iran. Doesn't help that religious zealots wound up in power

Iran looked a lot nicer before the US CIA toppled their democratically elected government.

We have a winner!

My neighbors escape Iran and moved to India before finally immigrating to the United States. Great people. Iran was truly a great place to be until we helped frick it up.

Iranian people are super nice and hospitable. They take pride in their hospitality much like southerners.

The tranquilized gorilla isn’t trying to rip your arms off. More liberal?

Maybe I should rework that one.

I find it a bit ironic that this post is pointed at liberals, when it was the CIA under Eisenhower's direction that orchestrated the 1953 Iranian coup.

This is truly fascinating. They were basically just like everybody else at that time.

How does this even happen? Those women were beautiful and now you can't even see their faces. Very sad.

No it hasn’t...

“The Zagros mountains, a natural barrier, marked the border between the Rashidun Caliphate and the Sassanid Empire. Caliph Umar ordered a full invasion of the Sasanian empire in 642, which led to the complete conquest of the Sasanians around 651. Directing from Medina, a few thousand kilometres away, Caliph Umar's quick conquest of Iran in a series of well-coordinated, multi-pronged attacks became his greatest triumph.

By 651, most of the urban centers in Iranian lands, with the notable exception of the Caspian provinces (Tabaristan) and Transoxiana, had come under the domination of the Arab armies. Many localities fought against the invaders; ultimately, none were successful. In fact, although Arabs had established hegemony over most of the country, many cities rose in rebellion by killing the Arab governor or attacking their garrisons. Eventually, military reinforcements quashed the insurgency and imposed Islamic control.”

They were Zoroastrian prior to this. Just like Egypt, Syria, and Byzantium were Christian.

So they were since the beginning of the religion?

Didn't it start in the 7th century?

Edit: Established...
