Following the deadly Capitol riot from almost two months ago, House Democrats are considering a major increase to the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) budget—a rate that would make it the biggest police force in the nation, despite calls within the party last year to defund national police forces. The legislative branch subcommittee of the House Committee on Appropriations met on Wednesday to hear Acting USCP Chief Yogananda Pittman request an increase of USCP's 2022 budget of $619.2 million, a 20 percent hike from last year's budget, citing that additional resources to train, equip, recruit and provide wellness resources for officers are necessary after the January 6 insurrection. USCP is the police force specifically dedicated to protect Congress, and its budget currently accounts for 10 percent of the entire legislative branch budget. Pittman told the lawmakers the increased funding would include money for 212 new officers for "mission critical requirements" such as a "quick standby force," "threat assessment agents" and "dignitary protection agents."

Classic. Police are bad for you but we need the best and largest police force in the nation because we are important.

Not gonna lie, as a US Marshal I'm not really pissed at Yogananda for trying to get more funds for her department.
I know that myself and many other Marshals have cussed our superiors many, many times for leaving us high and dry wishing we had more resources to work with and backup available. They give us the bare minimum when it comes to every little thing, down to pens and notepads.
So I don't blame Yogananda (lol) for trying to get more money for her department, BUT DOES ANYBODY THINK THIS IS ACTUALLY NECESSARY? Have the USCP *ever* been stretched thin before January 6th? Hell, has 95% of the nation even HEARD of the USCP before then?
She's trying to strike while the iron is hot, but there's still a "what the hell do y'all do the other 99.9% of the time?" kinda situation here. The January 6th protest has never happened before, so acting like it'll happen again or happen regularly is laughable.

Remember when the Awan brothers had migrated all their stolen data from dem reps onto the democratic server that sat in the house? When it "disappeared" they called in the vaunted capitol police, who summarily asked the now AG of California where it was and he said FU....and they did. They dont police or enforce shat now, they are a waste of time.
