quote:Hey, don't see my neck of the woods mentioned here very often. Huachuca gets its name from the mountains it sits beneath—Huachuca is an Apache word, so that one's pretty untouchable by the leftist renaming mob.
They will always be Ft Huachuca and Ft Campbell to me because thats what they were called when I served.
That said, I agree. Ft. Benning will always be Ft. Benning to me.

Idk what dumbass point you’re trying to make as usual. Like I don’t even understand the question

I know they all get disability for life.
My friend gets it, he was still in basic when he got medically discharged, so we pay him a few grand each month so he can work another job and smoke weed all day.
Ah yes, the classic “my buddy got kicked out of basic and now smokes weed for thousands a month” story. Right up there with “the woman on the Challenger was my teacher” and “I did not have sexual relations with that woman.” Total fiction, confidently delivered by yet another dickhead who's never read a single page of how the VA actually works.
Let’s clear this up since you clearly didn’t bother.
VA disability isn’t some magical free paycheck for being lazy. It’s compensation. As in: the government acknowledging it broke someone while they were serving and offering monthly payments to offset that damage. You know, like when you dropped your arm into the fryer at Burger King and corporate cut you a check to keep you from lawyering up? Same idea. Just with less grease and more paperwork.
It’s not means-tested. It’s not based on whether you work. You can get 10% for tinnitus and still deadlift 400 pounds. You can get 70% for PTSD and still have a career. The rating reflects the extent to which military service caused lasting damage — not whether they meet your personal definition of “disabled.”
And no, it’s not “for life” by default. Ratings get reevaluated. Especially in younger vets. And getting that rating in the first place often takes years of appeals, documentation, and jumping through hoops. It's not just “smoke weed and collect checks.”
But I get it. Veterans are only respectable when they’re dying in war. Once they come home broken and get a check? fricking freeloaders.
Next time try Googling before you channel the thirdhand resentment of a guy who got shin splints in week two and now blames veterans for his life choices.

I did my AIT there for 35M (HUMINT) back in 06. Basic training at Ft Sill then there. It was really great. Almost like a 4 month long job with apartments and near total freedom. Beautiful place too

Are you an instructor at one of the schools? Or are you station there under intelligence command?

How unsurprising. Reading comprehension is at an all time low in this country.

Nah, I'm retired and just like the area. I'm a cook in Sierra Vista.

I thought I heard they were going for it after they got Bragg. But I think they changed Bragg back
IIRC they renamed it Bragg, but found a honored war veteran with the last name of Bragg just to piss off liberals

I’m afraid they aren’t concerned with what you and I call the bases. They’re in it for the long haul.
Hopefully every R POTUS changes the names back to the originals.

The first one that should have been re-renamed is Fort Lee.
