year after year after year we see the left absolutely screaming to high hell about whichever conservative leader they are currently frantically angry about, and then they accuse conservatives of needing to lower the temperature. and compromise with the left always...ALWAYS... simply means giving them some of what they want instead of all of what they want.

Partially agree and partially disagree. There is some new level(s) to this Trump hatred. I didn't see them sending rounds downrange at McCain, Mitt, Hannity, Rush, etc.

They're killing people both intentionally (i.e. Charlie) and unintentionally (Comperatore) trying to get Trump. If unarmored that officer would have (likely) been killed at the WHCD.

I mean, every President is the subject of vague plots, threats, actual effort, but very few have folks get off multiple shots, multiple times. Reagan was shot. Ford was shot at. JFK was killed by gunshot. Truman was upstairs during the gun battle at Blair House, but unharmed. FDR was shot at (probably). Hoover avoided having his train blown up. A likely assassin got a pistol very near Taft. (Teddy was shot after he was President, similar to Trump in Butler.) McKinley was shot and killed. Garfield was shot and killed. Lincoln shot and killed (and earlier had a gunshot go through his hat).

I'm not saying it was "nothing" before Trump, but realistically, Lincoln was the only guy they got a clean shot at twice (ETA: Arguably Ford, but Fromme's weapon wasn't chambered) and for Trump this was approaching a 3rd time.

yeah i get what you're saying. but i think it just scales to the level of success or effectiveness of whichever human is in question. people forget, but the level of mass hysteria over George W Bush wasnt THAT much less than Trump. they didnt reach fever pitch over McCain or Romney simply because they didnt win and were largely ineffective. but if either of them had won the White House, especially if they had won two terms, i dont think it would be that different than what we saw with W and what we see with Trump.

put differently, i think if you could magically drop today's fricked up culture into 2004 or 2005 (or if you could magically drop W into the WH today), i think we would have seen multiple assassintation attempts on GWB.
