A Declaration of the Immediate Causes which Induce and Justify the Secession of the State of Mississippi from the Federal Union.
In the second line reads
quote:

Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery

LINK

quote:

No bill of attainder, ex post facto law, or law denying or impairing the right of property in negro slaves shall be passed.

Text from the CSA constitution
LINK
Link is to Yale Law School with the full text. The intent of the South in the war between the states is quite clear. They did not hide their motives. It is not a stretch of the imagination to assume that the KKK and other white power groups would look highly upon the men that penned the words and waged a war to preserve the practice of slavery.

The quote below was given by the Vice President of the CSA in his infamous "Cornerstone" speech
quote:

Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner-stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition

I wonder if Sheila Jackson Lee is ever triggered by her name?

Do you believe Trinidad is a racist.

Yes.

Or no.

Quite convenient of you to not address anything I posted above. As to your question I have never met the man, nor am I in anyway morally superior in any regard to belittle and name call anyone.

What you posted above has nothing to do with the argument. This isn’t complicated.

It can't be too far off. Should our public lands be littered with shrines to these men?

edit- misspelled word

The CSA leaders own words have been posted around here before. The little Neo Confederates here don't stray far from their revisionist playbook.

Maybe they can use the pedestals to erect statues
Politicians/ soldiers shouldn't be on pedestals to begin with. Neo Confederates have a bizarre fascination with statues & monuments to public servants. Not even the Union built as many statues after the War.

Heal your psychological wounds from the Civil War however you please , but not on public property/ money to maintain them

You can have your history as long as it does not offend certain “minority” groups. The tail wagging the dog much?

It must be miserable to live in a world without nuance. Was slavery an evil? Absolutely. But one can believe slavery to be an evil and still recognize that an irrevocable and permanent union, where a people cannot freely leave even by their own consent, is itself a form of political slavery. There is a reason why every living President (save for Martin Van Buren) was either an outright Confederate sympathizer (Tyler, Pierce and Buchanan) or voted for McClellan in 1864 in a bid to end the war (Fillmore).

Unbelievable shameful actions - all of this. The politicians have not done a thing about this and it will go on and on, not just Confederate statues and memorials but Union as well, and then, it is looking more and more that the Flag will be a target.

Sad state, very sad state that his crap has not been shut down - especially considering that probably the majority of US citizens do not have a clue about our history - especially the younger generations now.

That's because the Yankees were conquering a people, not defending their homes from an invading army.

Wonder what they do with them. Thats quite an expensive piece of art, would be really cool to have as a centerpiece in someone's garden if you lived in a rural area with some land.

I think those guys that dress in white hoods and burn crosses would enjoy what you've mentioned
