By 8 votes over Steve Carter. That’s pretty amazing. I assume there will be a recount. I don’t live in that district but my fiancee does and I told her to vote for Franklin Foil.

Over 30k votes between #2 Foil and #3 Carter.
Foil got 8 more votes, and likely will win in the run off.

I hope he wins. I was very nervous about that race. He’s been my Representative for a long time and I agree on just about all of his votes. Plus, he or his Assistant always answer my emails when I send him a concern or a position I’d like him to take. The big disappointment was Barbara Freiberg in a runoff with a Democrat. I can’t stand Freiberg and will never vote for the Democrat. So, don’t know what I’ll do in that runoff.

14211 for Thompson
12522. For Foil and Carter

Does anyone have a screenshot of the original final votes? I thought it was 12533 vs 12525? If so how did they lose votes?

Is the official story that there were 12522 vs 12514 out of 42157 votes cast, but they found 8 more to make it 12522 vs 12522 out of 42165? They found 8 more votes and all 8 went to Carter? Not one went to Foil, Thompson, or Bell, or Baudean?

Does belong in the Q thread?

What we should be worried about is that if this tie isn’t broken during a recount, all 3 will be on the ballot, making it likely a staunchly Republican area will be represented by a truly horrible Democrat. Hoping the discussions underway to get one of the Republicans to concede are successful, which guarantees Republican representation continues.

We shouldn't be worried about possible corrupt election officials giving 8 vote to a candidate?
Is the same person who found the 8 votes responsible for the recount?

Hey, I understand your passion for Franklin. I’ve known him since our kids went to grade school together many years ago. A fine man. As is Steve Carter, I’ve had a chance to work with him a lot over the years. Either one would provide terrific representation for our area. Beverly Hyphenated would be a disaster. I realize that elections in Louisiana are often suspect, doesn’t mean there is some conspiracy here.

He was ahead by 8 votes Saturday night, too. I hope Steve Carter gets behind Franklin for the run-off if this margin of victory holds.

If they found 8 votes- and all 8 out of 8 went to the guy in 3rd who needed 8 to tie, yes, it would seem like a conspiracy. That's a HELL of a coincidence.

3^8= 6561
Carter had less than 33% of the vote so the odds of 8/8 all falling to Carter would significantly higher than 1:6000

Or they might have found 100 or so votes and the net difference was an 8 vote gain. It doesn’t have to be all votes found for any particular candidate. The net gain/loss is all that matters.

There was an 8 vote gap yesterday.
This screenshot is from today.

I’m guessing that you don’t need 50% plus one vote to be elected?

You can get elected with a majority of the votes in a three man race.

Foil lost votes.

Something is fishy.

True, but all I've heard was that they "found" 8 more votes. also, I think Foil lost votes. Does anyone have the original numbers on a screenshot? I thought it was 12533 vs 12525

If there was some hanky panky they would have found nine votes. 8 votes helps neither guy unless one drops out.

Majority = 50% + 1

In a three man runoff in Louisiana, you can win with a plurality of the votes.
