It takes 6-12 months to get citizenship, but it takes at least 5 years to get your green card which is needed to gain citizenship.

It will either suck or be a complete pipe dream, assuming it involves legislation. If it’s purely executive it is DOA in district court somewhere.
Regardless, it will not pass either house of Congress should it ever get there. Congress has no will to govern and certainly no intent on fixing immigration, they are too busy running for perpetual re-election.
This will end in amnesty just like it did in the 80’s. And just like then, it will be Republicans fault when nothing changes afterward.

This is probably true. Trump quit on immigration almost immediately, and the fact that he has Kushner involved in this is an indication that it's pretty much over.
