Background checks are already done via the NICS system which is controlled by the ATF and the FBI. Assault weapons and automatic weapons have been banned for many decades. Very little can be done to curtail gun violence as most of those weapons are illegally obtained as in stolen or black market. Despite what most libs think AR doesn’t mean automatic or assault rifle . It’s simply the initials of the company that first designed and manufactured this type is semiautomatic weapon.
