The Justice Department is preparing to prosecute WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and is increasingly optimistic it will be able to get him into a U.S. courtroom, according to people in Washington familiar with the matter.

Over the past year, U.S. prosecutors have discussed several types of charges they could potentially bring against Mr. Assange, the people said. Mr. Assange has lived in the Ecuadorean embassy in London since receiving political asylum from the South American country in 2012.

The people familiar with the case wouldn’t describe whether discussions were under way with the U.K. or Ecuador about Mr. Assange, but said they were encouraged by recent developments.

Remember during the bush years when he was a hero? It’s telling that he is only an enemy when he is perceived to be helping the right.

He was regarded as a much needed check on W Bush

I feel like there’s a whole bevy of people in DC that should be in front of a judge before Assange.

Why is a man prosecuted for exposing the truth of the slime that people are?

Meanwhile Hillary gave free and open access to China on her home server. All secret information. Got assets killed.

The hypocrisy of our govt is disgusting .

You can bet your arse that nobody in the Washington establishment wants that fricker in a court room. If he comes to the US he will be killed before he ever sees the inside of a courtroom or ever turns over a shred of evidence. Hillary Clinton would never allow him to make it to a courtroom.

I doubt anyone remembers, but 8 years ago the left loved Assange and claimed the Swedish charge of rape against him was a right-wing conspiracy. This was back when he was revealing stuff about Guantanamo Bay and other questionable international activities of the US's three letter agencies (back when libs still hated them as well).

I doubt Assange ever sees the inside of an American courtroom.

He is holding a nice "trump" card on HRC if he does.

Release it all Julian. I want to watch the system burn. And Trump, if you really want to drain the swamp, Assange is an ally, not an enemy.
