Ultimately Parler has been "othered" in the mainstream and will never be a legitimate alternative to Twitter. So like, you're never going to see @MLB, Ford motors or LSU football on Parler. They've been pigeonholed into an identity as a conservative site.
Nonetheless, I signed up last night. The big tech efforts to throttle our speech and restrict access to Parler put me over the edge.

I've never had twitter and I deleted FB some years ago.
I looked at Parler's website, and it appears that they want ID before allowing you to create an account. That's how they roll?

This is the biggest effect of what is going on. I don’t blame people for dropping Twitter (and I probably would too if I was on it), but do you think Twitter is going to be disappointed that more conservative voices are leaving their platform. Sure it will hurt then financially in the short term, but in the long run it will be a platform where they can completely control the message and standardize the masses.
Twitter will be the left echo chamber and Parler, if it survives, will be the right echo chamber. People will be further divided and isolated, and no meaningful exchange of ideas or debate will happen.

WARNING: There's a fake DJT acct on Parler. Someone created an acct in his name and is posting all kinds of crap. There are several Trump accts, not sure which one is his or if any.

The left leaning people I know don't want to hear any of the right. They don't want meaningful exchanges of ideas nor do they want debates.

I'm not a fan of echo chambers, but I'm not the one unwilling to hear other ideas. I keep a NYSlimes account, et al.
