Jussie Smollett's attorney Patricia Brown Holmes has released a new statement tonight. This thread will include direct quotes:
“We are disappointed the local authorities have continued their campaign against Jussie Smollett after the charges against him have been dropped. The facts are clear. The Assistant State’s Attorney appeared in court and dismissed the charges."
"Mr. Smollett forfeited his bond. The case is closed. No public official has the right to violate Mr. Smollett’s due process rights."
"Mr. Smollett, like every citizen, is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Mr. Smollett is entitled to the same Constitutional protections as any citizen charged by the government with a crime..."
"...including the right to speak freely about his innocence, the right to be viewed as innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and the right to hold the State to its burden of proving him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. None of that has occurred in this case."

Because of your incestuous politicians.

I don't think life will be kind to this actor over the next little bit.

Keep digging the hole deeper Jussie.

Does an innocent man usually do this?

I would almost bet that is Jussie would have come out and said,”I did it. I’m sorry. It was really stupid. I apologize to the people I’ve hurt” then chicago PD would be way more at ease with this.

To be fair, if I got let off of 16 felonies and all I had to do was a couple hours of community service and lose what amounts to pennies of my wealth, I wouldn’t give two shits about getting those pennies back.
He’s def guilty af tho

Got off on an hour per felony by doing bogus community service. Let's not forget that minor detail. I bet lots of folks facing felony charges wish they could get a similar deal.

like every liberal/progressive/Democrat, is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Fixed it for you to align with reality.

And herein lies the problem. He will get no due process in a court of law and the fact that his charges were dropped under the presumption he had already done community service points to him being guilty anyway.

The RIGHT to be VIEWED as innocent until proven guilty in a court of law?
Ah beg your pardon?

Hey now, he critiqued a radio broadcast. That's gotta be hard work. Very time consuming.
They bragged about it, even.
*Listens to radio broadcast*.
"Y'all did good. You are tight."
There. That takes care of my community service.

"innocent until proven guilty"
is the presumption of innocence still there when you agree to a deal to make the charges go away? Even if the deal is a horseshite cop-out, seems like he admitted guilt by accepting it.
