Great pics but there are quite a few that I don’t believe are from D Day. The first one for example. For a bunch of guys ready to assault a heavily defended German beach, they look way too relaxed. Notice the difference between 1 and 2. Their heads are stuck up over the sides, quite a few are having cigarettes and it generally looks like they are taking a boat ride, not headed into combat. Another one near the bottom shows a bunch of men disembarking the landing craft, but almost none of them have their rifles in their hands ready to fight. A lot of them have their rifles slung over their shoulders and the guy in the lead doesn’t even appear to be armed. The landing craft in the background shows men leaned up against the side with their arms propped up on the edge.
You have to remember that a lot of pics and footage you see from WW2 is staged reenactments. These more than likely were either recreations or pics of men landing later in the day or the next day after a beachhead had been established.
