I'm surprised that as big of a liberal as Stewart is that he actually didn't take any of the b.s. that Nancy Pelosi was giving him

He wimped out 40 seconds into Part 2 of that interview.

That has absolutely nothing to do with this. His show is on Comedy Central. Don't pretend he's trying to convince people that he's a reporter. He's a political satirist

Yet your first statement in this thread, was that we needed more like him in the media.

Correct, and I stand by that.

Media - "the main means of mass communication (esp. television, radio, newspapers, and the Internet) regarded collectively"

He's not in political reporting (although he'd kick arse at it) or news media, but he's in media.

mm,k. Nevermind the statement was due to a "political" interview he had. Whatever floats your boat.

He interviews political figures on his comedy show that usually have better quality than most "News" media interviews. I understand that you don't like him (likely because of his mockery of your political affiliations) but you can't deny his intelligence or moxie. He knows his stuff.

This sounds like you respect his "news" savvy and not his comedy.

Why do you respect something he isn't?

Or do you not realize, that you just proved my statement, that people take his show for actual news?

Are you really trying to trap me with "news savvy"? You can do better than this.

Stewart is a comedian but like most comedians his act has a message. His niche is being the best in the business at making fun of the media and politicans.

He doesn't hide what he believes in, I don't always agree with him but he definitely makes some very valid points at times. He also doesn't cut either side any slack for their disappointments.

He stands behind what he believes and is savvy enough to contend with political figures and reporters of either side. However the main focus of his act is comedy and laugh value.

Now you think he deserves a cookie because he asks a tough question or two AFTER the bill passed? Nah.

No shite. The time to ask the tough questions about the bill was for that steaming pile of crap was passed. Now he everyone else knows it's too late do anything about the inevitable fail that will lead to full blown government controlled healthcare which is what they all wanted in the first place.

He isn't shy about his support of single payer systems. I'm running out of arguments against it at this point though.

Stewart routinely, like most Americans, calls the ACA "Obamacare" on his show.

Three weeks before her appearance on the show, Pelosi made a point about calling out a reporter for using the word "Obamacare".

In this interview, Stewart says "Obamacare", then quickly corrects himself and then uses the term "Affordable Care Act". (No joke was attached, it was part of a serious question.)

Point to ponder: (a) Would Pelosi have called out Stewart on his own show had he not corrected himself and (b) did Stewart correct himself specifically because he was interviewing Pelosi and so much has been made about her strong dislike for the word?

I'm guessing (a) is no and (b) is yes, and if asked about it later, Pelosi would simply say she hadn't noticed he said "Obamacare" and thus didn't reprimand him, and Stewart would say he corrected himself because he didn't want to take away from the integrity of the question he was posing. Both would have been fibbin'.

I would consider it a good interviewing skill when you accomodate the little things for your interviewee in order to avoid her steering off topic and to preserve the relationship for more interviews.

I hope you're considering considering how the government has managed other government programs. Fundamentally when there is not market competition there is zero incentive to achieve at a higher level. We will end up with healthcare rationing just like in Canada and the best doctors outside the government healthcare system. Enjoy your ridiculously long waits for anything government officials determine to be elective. Bottom line: price fixing by any monopoly especially the government is never a good thing.

He was interviewed by FOX's Chris Wallace a couple of years ago. He talked about FOX's right-wing bias. When Wallace asked him if he detected a left-wing bias from the other networks, he said no. He said the other networks like to play up the sensational aspects of stories, but he didn't think they evidenced a liberal bias.

Yeah, sure. He's a smart guy, so I KNOW he knows better than that. I don't pay any attention to him. Somebody should be blasting Pelosi for role in Obamacare, but he obviously isn't the person to do that.
