I used to think this as well, but the federal govt has gotten so powerful it can screw a state many ways if it gets out of line.
Dont like abortion, have Space Force jerked from Huntsville. Protest school boards, have the feds investigate you personally. Speak out against voter fraud, have the IRS, Bureau of standards, health dept, attack your business.
Just a myriad of ways they can ruin your state (and any hope you have of reelection), or your personal and business life.
