Maybe not completely, but you're going to pay a premium.

I'm probably going to get in trouble here but it needs saying. Take her to a gun store or a good pawn shop and explain to your counter person what's up and as they experience this everyday can help you both figure it out.
Some women don't need to be within ten feet of a loaded weapon and some can handle it. She needs to figure it out as much as you. If she's not comfortable with it she won't carry it. If she's incompetent then she might shoot everybody including pets and kitchen appliances.
.38 revolvers work well with a lot of women and today they even come in fashion colored grips!

When you buy rounds for your gun or guns get two types. I like to buy the cheaper rounds for target practices but have the more expensive rounds for defensive.

Take her to a gun shop that has a shooting range, Put her in a class. She can shoot multiple guns and make the choice based on what becomes to her.
I open carry either a Sig or a 357 Mag.
The 357 Mag is too heavy for her.
My rifle of choice is a 7mm Mag. As the 30:06 bullet drops the Mag keeps going.
For effect ....a Shotgun turns the tide every time.

Revolver.
And it’s not time to panic, it’s time to pray.
And protect your family.

Take this opportunity to buy as much shite as you can. Even if you never have to use it, getting your wife to support a gun addiction is tough work.

You should compliment that with an AR-15 "pistol' with a brace. It's basically a short barrelled rifle that you don't have to register. About an 11.5" barrel would be perfect.
An illegal barrel that has to be registered?

In the process of buying a house. As soon as we moved in and I get my license switched back, going by a gun

Since most shootings occur within NINE FEET, I'd suggest a .38 revolver. Nothing better than a point and shoot gun. Make sure the barrel is at least four inches long, six is better but four is easier to conceal.
Load with hollow point ammo. You want each shot to count with the maximum stopping power.
I would suggest a revolver for a new shooter. I’d specifically look at something like the Ruger LCR in .327 magnum if you can find it. Gets you an extra round and the ballistics on it are actually pretty nice. Shotgun for home defense. I have a Remington 870 tac-14, which I like, but I’d suggest one with a stock.

Buy a couple. You can buy more than one with a single background check.

My anti-gun nut wife said we need to buy a firearm for protection. I was floored. That said, any baws want to give me some direction of what I should get? Any help is appreciated.
even a drawing of a gun in some parts of the USA can get you thrown in jail.
update: it's perfectly legal to take over Seattle, WA and drive out law enforcement with "assault weapons" and make demands.

Hell yeah. For a second, I thought that was a freeze from one of my favorite YouTube videos: Hickock45 on how to clean a revolver. I could fall asleep listening to him walk you through the details of basic gun maintenance.

The shorter barreled paratroop model of this beauty is my choice. Took it to the range this past week.
That’s a composite removable 30 round banana mag (which I have) in the pic. I just ordered the same mag in a 10 round version Friday (less cumbersome when firing).
