not to get in the way of your rant, i was 4 when clay beat sonny liston and lot of talk at the time was that liston threw that fight.
i was 31 when bush lost to clinton, and what you're too young to remember is that george bush passed the largest tax increase on the middle class since WW2 an 11% increase on everyone earning 28k and over, and he passed it retroactively meaning he signed the bill in novemeber but made it effective january 1. it left a lot of people short in their with holding that year.
then poppy signed a 40% cut in the long term cap gain rate.
i voted for clinton, my dad voted for perot.

The question is why did the democrats allow Mamdani to run as a Democrat ? Why not kick him out the party to run as a DSA or independent?
Why would they kick out a fellow communist that is going to win the election?

Please, NYC is the only place a guy like Mamdani could get elected.

Because he is the Democrat party now. He is who they are at their core now.

There ya go. They only win because they cheat.
Talk about a blind spot.
Did illegals vote in the NYC mayoral election?

It was a foregone conclusion. Don't hate Mandami... hate New Yorkers.
Nah. I hate them both.

Minneapolis is about to elect a similar person Mayor... Detroit could definitely elect the same type of candidate. There are many cities that could elect a similar candidate. San Francisco definitely could. Seattle or Portland could. He'd probably make a damn good run in L.A. too.

He could get elected in many cities, including most west coast urban areas.

The Democratic Party is dying. The DSA is taking over.
Think about that.
They never stop moving left so the D in DSA will be gone soon enough.
We allow the communist party to operate here. Also, think about that.
There will be blood eventually.

I don't see it. NYC has unique problems that opens itself up to guys like this that you don't have on the West Coast and cities like Detroit. I think people are making more out of this than needs to be.

Seattle would love this guy. So would portland, possibly san fran and LA

I definitely don't see it for LA. Different set of issues locally. In NYC you have a lot more tenants. LA has more private property ownership for rank and file types and a better middle class presence. They may see themselves as liberal but it's a more mainstream liberal. Same for Portland. I only see him having some traction amongst the whackos in Seattle but someone like him would finish second at best in Seattle. San Fran......in reality San Francisco is a small city comparatively he might be attractive , but the surrounding areas like San Jose, etc is where the population is. I don't see the same conditions. NYC has NYC problems that are really only big in NYC.
It would be interesting to see a map where Mamdani got the bulk of his votes. I would guess that it closely mirrors AOC's and the Upper East side of Manhattan

Karen Bass is no better. She's just incompetent.
Bass was involved in the SDS back in the day, thats about as radical as they get.

Who says Mamdani is competent? Bass is held in check overall . She may be very incompetent, but I don't see her as a true believer in anything, not even herself.
If she threatened the money out there, she would be gone. Mamdani can get away with it right now. Bass is a weak mayor. BOS out there really controls things.
NYC is set up so much differently than So. Cal. In So.Cal, the surrounding areas create a check.

The Republicans did not even try to win this race. They handed the election to Mandami.
Posted on 11/5/25 at 1:42 pm to prplhze2000
She better re-think that race. It’s likely AOC will defeat Schumer and will be the Dem candidate for Senator. With her on the ballot, there’s no way a Republican will win any statewide race in NY. The same bunch that elected Mamdani will turn out to vote in AOC. The only way Stefanik should run is if she would lose her House seat anyway. The lesson from last night is that it’s useless for the GOP to run candidates in Blue Country.
