It’s neat that Trump used George Washington as an example today

I’m confused on the premise here. Washington had men executed.

As they should be if treasonous or seditious

Who are "them"? Mike Pence?

Between 25-30. Mostly for desertion and mutiny.

So you're saying it was not as president, during a time without a constitution?

So what does the Constitution, that does exist now, list as the punishments for treason?
I'll help.
Death, prison , fine.
And with how democrats are always crying and saying he's destroying the Constitution, maybe this is one thing he could honor now.
Let's put some treasonous people 6ft down.

Trump was, is, and will always be a better choice for POTUS than Kamala Harris.
That said, Trump on his best day isn’t a fraction of what Washington was on his worst day. Neither am I or anyone on this forum. There are very few men who walk this planet that can do what Washington did. We need a few more.

I am. However, the United States Code of Military Justice lists the maximum penalty for desertion and mutiny as death. So little has changed in that regard.

Except due process has been added.

That actually isnt in the constitution, at all

Due process existed in the Continental Army at the time of George Washington, too. Every single man whom Washington had executed were found guilty at a courts-martial, had their sentence pronounced by judges, who then sent their decision up to Washington for final review. Over the course of the war, Washington commuted THOUSANDS of sentences down to punishments such as flogging and running the gauntlet.

Odd, the army says there's no record of any court martial prior to 1808, but you say every last one. LINK to the army's own article on the matter.

Probably because Records Group 153 - forerunner to the Judge Advocate General - didn't start archiving cases until 1809.

Okay, but
quote:
Only two people have been executed for treason by the United States federal government: John Brown and William Bruce Mumford. John Brown was executed in 1859 for his role in the raid on Harpers Ferry, while William Bruce Mumford was executed in 1862 for removing a U.S. flag from a New Orleans building.
And the bigger issue is not whether someone who is found by the courts to have legitimately committed treason and is issued capital punishment as a result, but whether Trumps statements are heard by some of his cult followers to take it upon themselves to decide. A call for political violence in a sense

If there's no records, then why exactly are you telling me something was that way, and at a 100% rate no less? That doesn't make sense, other than how far y'all are willing to go to defend every action/statement by trump.

Probably because we have records outside of official government channels from the period: diaries, memoirs, letters, oral testimony, etc.
