re: Islam in Australia: No Go Zones

I'm not saying you can't carry a gun,
I'm just saying you can't carry a gun in town.

For 2 1/2 years, I worked in Bankstown, a neighboring suburb to Lakemba. This was 2000-2003. Even then, the suburbs in Bankstown, Lakemba, Punchbowl, Auburn, and Lidcombe were majority Muslim. They had a fricking halal McDonalds there for fricks sake. I took public transport (train) everyday to and from the office, and walked the 3 blocks from the station to my office building. I was never hassled, probably because it was “rush hour” and pretty crowded with a mix of whites. Off hours who knows? The place did look like Beirut. Couldn’t read the shop signs, etc. There was gang violence, often Muslim vs. Asian vs. Eastern European gangs. There was a pretty high profile case of an Australian being gang-raped by Muslims. At the trial the mother of one of the youts said that Australian girls deserved it because they dress like sluts and corrupt young Muslim men. That was over twenty years ago, so I can’t imagine what the place it like now.

Until the 1950’s, Australia’s official immigration policy was known as the “White Australia Policy.” Essentially immigration was allowed only from North America, Western Europe, Scandinavia, and the other white counties of the British Empire. After two world wars, however, with a good number of Australia’s young men dead, they faced a declining population. By the early 1950’s, the government pushed “populate or perish.” That’s when they began allowing immigration from the communist bloc in Eastern Europe, Italy, and Greece. By the 1960’s, when Vietnam ramping up, they started letting Vietnamese, Thai, Laotian, and Cambodian refugees in, as well as Chinese. By the time Gough Whitlam and the Labour Party took power in the early 70’s, they opened the gates to the Muslims, and immigration from there ramped up the the 80’s.

It’s been downhill ever since. The cities are bad, but when you get to the rural areas (I moved three hours south of Sydney for the other 2 1/2 years I lived there), it was awesome. The government will kiss arse where the voters are, and they’re in the cities so they’ll keep shooting themselves in the goddamn foot and continue fricking the Australians over.
