One of the literal tenets of conservatism is free trade.

Wrong. It's a new position.

Again.. GOP's on words:

- Tariff and Reciprocal Trade

We are threatened by unfair competition in world markets and by the invasion of our home markets, especially by the products of state-controlled foreign economies.

We believe in tariff protection for Agriculture, Labor, and Industry, as essential to our American standard of living. The measure of the protection shall be determined by scientific methods with due regard to the interest of the consumer.

Absolutely not.

As a worker, it binds you to the lowest achiever, puts seniority over merit.

Why would a man put himself in such a predicament? I can benefit negotiating for myself with my employer.

And again, your argument is with HISTORY! I get that you do not want it to be, but it's like... history.

Those are not my words. It's the GOP.

refute what was posted. Are you saying those are all false? Common. Stick to the facts that you have a hard time with.

I laid this particular issue out for you. Gave you the words of the GOP. You want to see some laws they passed on labor?

Why this thread is starting from first principles and trying to discuss this very issue.
I don’t see the point.

Nobody cares about fundamental principles as far as I can tell. They just use language and “narratives” to suit their own manipulative purposes to get what they want.

Can you answer a simple question?
Why do you beat your wife?

Conservative/Liberal has historically little to do with the OP questions.

It's not an accusation, Rog. It wasn't personally directed. For goodness sakes man. It is the prototypical, classic loaded question. It incorrectly insinuates something, and offers no possibility of a direct factual response. Just like the OP.
