Is Flake an argument against congressional term limits?

Think about it - a politician who cannot seek re-election can act like Flake and completely sell out his constituency. I was once an avid supporter of term limits. This past week has made me re-evaluate that stance.

Maxine Waters and Sheila Jackson Lee are much better examples of why we do need them. Also, can't wait to see what a 90 year old Diane Feinstein will act like in a few years.

Every politician ever, except the POTUS is an example of why they are needed.

You really think those districts would do a whole lot better electing Representatives IF ONLY we had term limits?

I think the answer is more that we need more visibility into what our politicians are voting on and an easier way to recall them if they start deviating off their promises.

Now a whole lot of discussion can go into how do you get that done, but I don't think the people should be held hostage by their public servants.

I get your point, but it's possible if you keep making the incumbent step down. The biggest issue in Lee's district is that no one wants to challenge her. If she can't run, then who knows who might. There are actually rumblings that Houston's current mayor, Sylvester Turner, may challenge her at some point. He's by no means perfect, but he's not a total dumbass and is actually a decent human being.

Flake is an argument against it. Once they know their time is done, they will be free to work on lining pockets.

I am willing to gamble though and roll the dice with term limits.

Incumbents have too much sway in keeping their job and being a politician should not be a career.

yes the idiots who vote for them will vote in equally dumb idiots, but that is not the point is it, the point is the huge out of control power structures and criminal enterprises they run wont exist or will at least be reduced to small areas of less influence
