A statement is nothing more than a vocalized thought. Now we are into the area of free speech, but that is another thread. Sterling is just an example of someone punished for private thoughts/free speech. When the First Lady of The United States starts encouraging students to monitor family members for politically incorrect thoughts, where do think that is headed?

His speech was illegally recorded and used against him. Sounds 'free' to me.
OK, now I'm really done here. Bask in your ignorance.

Not with someone else's business as they did with Sterling's. Again, yes they can and Sterling agreed to this before purchasing the Clippers. You clearly know nothing of the NBAs by laws yet continue to spout ignorant statements. Owning an NBA franchise isn't like owning a regular business or something.
OK, you want to start throwing insults? frick you, not arguing with an idiot.

Last week, Michelle Obama made headlines when she exhorted graduating high schoolers in a commencement address to monitor their families for politically incorrect thoughts and behaviors.
Were those her exact words?
Trying to be fair here ... and, I can't seem to find where she said exactly that.

That was the original premise of the thread before the two idiots entered.
1984 a few years late.
When I was a kid Americans were horrified at the thoughts of children in Iron Curtain nations turning in their parents. Now we have people like Michelle Obama encouraging it.

Link?
Like I said, you were never interested in an actual discussion. You simply wanted confirmation of your silly suggestion. At least you tacitly admitted it:

I'm trying to find a video. I would like to hear the entire speech myself.

Because of their thoughts? Or because of their statements? Many of you are having trouble distinguishing between those two.
Nope, you're losing this one. Think about it. If they sent Donald Sterling to 'Sensitivity Training' they would not be giving him lessons about how to speak in order to disguise his thoughts. They would be getting his mind right. Changing his thoughts.

What part of free speech is only protection from the government is so confusing to you?

I didn't throw an insult, I said you were spouting ignorant statements. Which is exactly what you are doing if you don't think the NBA can force one of its owners to sell his team.

A bit sensitive, are we not? Maybe message boards aren't for you

So, as long as it is only the media and political correctness Nazis crushing free speech, no problem?

Well, Savage, tell me what your solution to this "problem" is then?

Obviously the government should suppress the media.

I think the government should prosecute all the people who thought what Sterling said was offensive and objectionable. Obviously that is the only way to preserve Mr. Sterling's "free speech" rights according to SavageOrangeJug.

The 'diversity crowd' needs to put on their big girl panties.
Americans could stop this politically correct bullshite from a small minority of idiots in this nation.
Want me to give you a good example. Chick-fil-A. The politically correct crowd was really going to punish them. Americans said, "frick that noise."
They should do the same thing to the NBA in reverse. Refuse to do business with their advertisers. Refuse to attend games.
They should treat everyone who wants to punish others for their speech, the same way they treated the idiots who wanted to boycott Chick-fi-A. Make it backfire.
Lebron James said he won't play if Sterling owns the team. Fine, let his crybaby arse sit at home and lose millions.

No, the citizens need to suppress the politically correct crowd.

You know what this is called?
The Free Marketplace of Ideas
The exact same thing that forced the NBA to act on Sterling. Looks like your suggestion just doesn't enjoy enough support (or else it would already be happening).

No, a small minority of politically correct assholes imposed their will on Sterling.
Shame on us, all of us, for allowing that to happen in he Land of The 'Free'.
