I agree. We don't need to push the nuke button at all. We can bomb them to oblivion with conventional weapons but nukes will make it ugly quick.

You don't have to be a soy boy to see how our own foreign policy aided the rise of Islamic fundamentalism in that part of the world. We funded the Mujahideen in their fight against the Soviets. We've given money to the Saudi's to build madrasas that radicalize Muslims in the Balkans, the Caucasus and Southeast Asia. We bought off Middle Eastern strongmen so they would recognize Israel, which caused massive resistance in their countries that was brutally suppressed and attributed to us.

At the end of the day, we didn't heed the advice of our Founding Fathers. We were arrogant enough to believe the rest of the world should be made in our image. A significant chunk of the Muslim world wants to live in the 8th century. No amount of American blood or treasure will change that and it damn sure ain't worth it to try.

We wasted 20 years in Afghanistan. We could have gotten the same terms (or even better terms) from negotiations in 2001 than we got in 2019. There was no purpose other than to deflect from the Wahhabi origins of the hijackers, and then we tried to link both Iran and Iraq to Al-Qaeda, and some of you morons still believe it. Some of you also can’t see what is coming in the region, and how America will be involved by virtue of the effective security guarantees it has made to numerous states in the region. If you care about American servicemen, then getting Iran, Israel and the KSA to the table to discuss things is paramount. Paying off the Bahraini’s and the UAE isn’t going to stabilize the region.
