How are those grouped together exactly? Doesn’t seem like they would be mutually exclusive.

The only thing I can think of is that those who eventually succumb to opiod/opiate addiction are less likely to take that route if cannabis use is an accessible alternative for pain treatment.

I have no idea how many people start taking pain pills from prescriptions v shits and giggles.

Nu uh. There’s a kid I saw on Facebook who was having 3000 seizures every half minute and now he smokes a joint every other day and he’s fine.

Yes it does work for seizures especially but it is the cannabinols not THC that does it.

quote:

The strawberry-flavored syrup is a purified form of a chemical ingredient found in the cannabis plant -- but not the one that gets users high. It's not yet clear why the ingredient, called cannabidiol, or CBD, reduces seizures in some people with epilepsy.

Right. And that means potheads should have access to pot.

You're right about CBD and seizures.
There's also a strain called Charlotte's Web if you really want to research further.

As far as the actual legitimacy of medical pot, it is debatable. But, regardless of the actual positive effects, it is a tool of what I am for:
Harm reduction vs criminality. Prohibition doesn't work, and legalizing medical marijuana is the first of many steps in my goal.

I am saying some of the criminality and harm lies in the medical field, especially in small towns where some Drs prescribe an inordinate amount of Opiods. The answer is not to throw our arms up and legalize another drug, but hold those who are incharge of already controlled substances to account for, their actions under current laws. This is all similarl to illegal imigration. Laws already on the books and proper Gov oversight should fix,the issue.

A better proposal would be to shut down a bunch of shitty Drs handing out opiods like gotdamn candy.

From personal experience, I take edibles to help me sleep, as if I don't, the pain will keep me awake all night. It's been a damn blessing. The opioid meds I took made me really restless while sleeping.

Haha should’ve figured you’d be the one to respond. Thanks for your input. That seems fair enough.

Seems like you have a balanced and dispassionate view on the subject then.

No. It's not. We incarcerate WAY too many people in this country. We have gangs shooting up Chicago based on drug trade/turf wars. Opioid/heroin overdoses killed more Americans than the entirety of the Vietnam War. Something DIFFERENT must be done in order to produce better results.

I just stopped? Kicking alcohol and nicotine has been a hell of a lot more difficult.

I’m down for legalization but I don’t see why medical marijuana is pushed by people as some sort of first step to complete legalization. We don’t vote on whether any other drug is legally prescribed. I don’t know any pharmacologists but I hear lots of people talking about medical marijuana.

And they will start shooting each other over something else when your legal heroin stores start popping up. This will do nothing, other than encourage people that it isn't so bad to do heroin.

I don't do either of those much, but I have been smoking a lot for like 5 years straight and it's hard for me to quit.
