Well, if the state automatically registers you when you obtain a DL, that is not entirely true.
It makes sense to offer a voter application when getting a DL. Automatic voter registration is bad policy.

The scale of the problem is relatively small; of the 574 people who could have been registered, only 16 actually cast ballots.

Yeah God forbid someone has to prove who they are to cast a legal vote. Wonder how much in taxes most folks pay as a citizen for the right to cast a vote. I'd say it's probably a shite-ton more than $22...why should folks pay taxes in the amount they do to have their vote negated by an illegal voter because someone couldn't be troubled to obtain a birth certificate in this case. Also I'm sure there are programs for a birth certificate for indigent citizens. Again, it's not about the minimal effort to get an ID, it's about removing the need for IDs to perpetrate illegal voting schemes.

Here is the shiny object, dont fall for it. What the article does not mention....how many people are registered legally but are illegal aliens?????
All I have to do is check a box and say Im a citizen, that would NOT SHOW UP AS AN ERROR IN REGISTERING.
