And somehow it’s evolved into the most important issue in modern American politics. But we aren’t to believe that it’s merely all about the same old personal hatred for Trump that we’ve seen every step of the way. This is about principle. Not sure he "ran on it". It was part of his campaign, but I think things like tax cuts and deregulation were a bigger part.
