I think the Dem ulterior motive couldn't be clearer. Total control of an open border to increase dem voters. Why else wouldn't you take this deal?

It’s a fake deal designed to create the exact sentiment you’re trying to spin. The WH is losing the PR war right now and can’t win if that doesn’t change, hence this tactic. It probably won’t work, by the way, but It’s worth a shot. I’d be trying the same thing.
But the deal is fake - Trump isn’t offering anything Dems don’t already have (and he knows it). PR game pure and simple.
