Damnit now I have to listen to it, again

I really hope this is sarcasm. If not, go look up the verse right before the one he posted and it should be pretty painfully obvious

quote:

Who is "Eulogy" about? My guesses are Jesus Christ, Paul D'Amour (Tool's ex-bassist), or Kurt Cobain.

"There are no songs on the album about Paul. People might think that, but it's not the case."

Is it about Kurt Cobain? I wouldn't think you'd be a fan of his.

"I appreciate what he did. I'm not really happy with his professional widow. The song's about tendencies, NOT about a specific individual. It's about tendencies of people wanting to stand on a soap box and sacrifice themselves in some way. We don't need that process anymore. You're on your own now."

Probably but for the cheap seats:

Jump down,
Get off your fricking cross,
We need the fricking space,
To nail the next fool martyr

Yep, reading that one loud and clear Maynard

Im not saying President Trump is going to lose the election or even should.

I just think this was a bad PR move.

Dude, Maynard keeps the meaning of pretty much all his songs a mystery. Right when you think you have him pegged, listen to his songs again, and a whole new theory comes about.

I once read that many years ago MJK had a rift with L Ron Hubbard over the use of a venue for a concert and many have speculated that Eulogy was written about Hubbard. “Come down off your cross” could be interpreted as a remark to anyone that thinks he is above anyone else.

Well the moon is broken
And the sky is cracked
Come on up to the house
The only things that you can see
Is all that you lack
Come on up to the house

All your cryin don't do no good
Come on up to the house
Come down off the cross
We can use the wood
Come on up to the house

Come on up to the house
Come on up to the house
The world is not my home
I'm just a passin thru
Come on up to the house

There's no light in the tunnel
No irons in the fire
Come on up to the house
And your singin lead soprano
In a junkman's choir
You gotta come on up to the house

Does life seem nasty, brutish and short
Come on up to the house
The seas are stormy
And you can't find no port
Come on up to the house
There's nothin in the world

You did not specifically say that was a direct quote from MJK. As someone earlier stated in another forum, why would Jesus be surprised to read his own Eulogy when he fully knew of his upcoming future death? It is easy to think the song is about Jesus, but it could be about any high profile controversial person.
