There are plenty of small towns like Mayberry. I am blessed to live in one and find ways to deal with the 1 1/2 hour commute each way. Best of luck to you as you search for your Mayberry!

I grew up watching reruns of that show everyday after school. I loved everything that show stood for and still do. But it’d be dishonest of me if I said it didn’t bother me a bit when I grew up and realized that Andy Griffith in real life was a raging liberal. I was shocked I tell you.

Andy was pretty much anti gun, and Barney couldn’t be trusted with more than one bullet, not even that at times.

There is a “Mayberry” just south of where I live that is mostly black. Basically zero crime.

Mayberry was based off where Andy Griffith came from which was Mount Airy North Carolina. If you remember on the show Mayberry’s rival town was Mount Pilot which is actually Pilot Mountain and I was was raised there basically. Kindergarten thru 9th grade.
