I think I've figured out what Russia does in regards to it's propaganda.

They will play any and all sides as long as that side is negative towards U.S. institutions, NATO, the EU, and any Western alliance.

They like the chaos to weaken the power of the West. So they'll support BLM, they'll support white hate groups, they'll support Brexit, they'll support Trump telling the European nations they aren't pulling their weight, they'll support many "conservative" websites that are about limiting the federal government, etc.

It's actually annoying because you can't just read a conservative blog anymore without wondering if the point they are making is legitimate in terms of limited government or are they a pro-Russian blog disguised as a pro-liberty blog.

Any time you're on Twitter, you don't know if these people in these political threads are for real or if they are a pro-Russian troll.

I know we're all tired of hearing about Russia, but they really are doing some serious work on the internet and most of us don't even realize when we've been played.

Hmm...sounds like something a Russian troll would say

It's funny how no one has responded to the notion that advertising for BLM was a sound strategy for increasing turnout for Trump. Did I say funny, I meant suspicious. It's almost like mainstream America hates many Democrat pet causes.

A good idea is a good idea, regardless of who supports or benefits from it. China will benefit by a decreased American presence in the Pacific.Russia will benefit from a decreased American presence in Europe. Doesn't matter, because America will also benefit, and we need to prioritise that above everything else.

For example... you'll see a lot of things online about how the U.S. government is secretly working against their own citizens. People lose faith in their government and think it's all corrupt. No government is perfect, but Russian trolls will push this narrative disguised as a pro-limited government patriots to weaken your faith that the government supports it's people and protects us from foreign adversaries.

Be careful when you're reading something and think to yourself if this is a narrative that Russia would support. And if the answer is yes, rethink it over.

Right. Their motives are to tear down western democracy because it threatens their oligarchy in the eyes of their own citizens. Their economy relies on extraction (oil, minerals) and extortion and since the price of oil is down Putin isn't able to make appeals to regular Russians' prosperity goals, so they've embarked on an ultra-nationalist agenda of grabbing back Ukraine, dominating neighboring states and generally ramping up cold war rhetoric in order to make Russians think that Putin is MRGA'ing.

That's true, but Russia is telling the left similar things. They are promoting ideas that go against the government in a different way.

Now neither side trusts their own institutions and there is a lot of division.

That's what they do. That is their goal.

Typical themes: anti-globalism, anti-NATO, anti-EU, anti-Soros, muh Deep State, etc. — all reflective of Russian foreign policy aims.

I'm currently at a spot where I'm not sure what I believe.

I believed in most of those things... but I've come to realize Russia supports all of those things. And it's made me re-think all of it. Not Soros, he can get lost, but the rest of it.

Right now I'm thinking it's about nuance. It's not a question of a one world government or an isolationist nation. It's not about NATO or no NATO. You can have qualms about all of these things without advocating for the abolition of them. I think that's where I'm at and I think that's where I differ from a pro-Russian view. They want total destruction of these institutions.

I mean, there is someone running around this website whose handle name is that of a Russian hybrid guard dog breed that I can't tell if it's even real or some propaganda myth that was bred specifically as a military tool for Russian border defense.

The bot's posts are about what you would expect.

There are enough Americans here willing to promote the Kremlin line that I don’t even bother to worry if some of them are not American.

Volkosoby. His posts are very focused. Little scumbag won’t be around for long. I’m sure all of our little Russian whores will be claiming that they’re trolling and not actual stooges. Just like racists and antisemites on 4chan are just in it for kicks and don’t really believe it.

The Russians goal, as stated by the IC report on election tampering, was to undermine the US citizens faith in the United States' electoral process. Democrats played right into their hands. As Hillary Clinton said, someone who would refuse to accept results of the election is "denigrating-talking down our democracy. I am appalled..."

Way to go Dems. Now you are ruining our democracy. Hillary said so.

Case study: True Pundit
Ostensibly run by Americans, although no one will put their real name to it.
Published a lot of fake news during election.
Was heavily amplified by a Kremlin troll networks during the election and still continuing today.

If someone here would like to shed more light on these fellas I’m all ears.

Ha Ha. Another poliboarder who doesn’t read the poliboard. This Roy Moore siege you idiots have signed on to defend “cause the mainstraaaame meeed-ja is so mean you little flyover folks” has led me to believe, for the first time, that maybe peaceful secession might not be so out of order.

We can hug it out.
