I only have three things on my presidential ballot

President
Congressman
A single state constitutional amendment.
Meanwhile, in the December election, there are four state constitutional amendments on my ballot.
If I have any criticisms of the way elections are held in LA, it is this... we have got to find a way to streamline election dates. We waste so much money with these useless one-off elections, and it depresses voter turnout.
At a minimum, there should be a requirement that constitutional amendments can only be placed on a ballot that has a statewide race.

Feature, not a bug. They hide them in random elections so that the only people who vote are government employees, etc.

Oh I know. And getting politicians to go away from that is like trying to get politicians to agree to term limits.
Another fine example of the people getting the government they deserve.

quote:Figured you did, but just put it out there because it’s so frustrating that politicians treat elections as their tool, not the voter’s tool.
Oh I know.

Some areas schedule off year elections for major offices. I think the worst offenders are some of the cities of the state of Louisiana like New Orleans they have their elections in the spring. I believe New Orleans is next spring.
Even some small towns have elections in the Spring. Grand Isle had their mayoral and council elections during the primary elections this year. Some of this has to do with their office cycles starting on July 1st. Heck when we elect a sheriff and most parish wide elected officials like sheriff and clerk of court, they start on July 1st. That is an almost 8 month transition if not more if they won without opposition.
