I had some lefties Ithat were pretty cool and politics rarely came up and even then it was just in civil give and take conversation. Then towards the middle of Obama it started changing into aggressive closed ear defense of progressive ideas. Trump and having to create excuses for BLM and Antifa riots sent them over the edge and common sense went out the window. Once I started raw dogging their hypocrisy and retarded thinking things would get entirely to tense. I’m done trying and more than a few decent friendship fell by the wayside

I understand what you are feel here. However, they live in an echo chamber and need some form of push back. I have an in law that is a complete idiot when it comes to politics. It's just crazy. This person is the ONLY one in our circle and it has caused MANY problems. Basically they want to completely shut us down from our opinions and that is impossible and absolutely rude of them to think we should just shut up. We've done that for 50 years and we are where we are bc of that. I hate their discussions but I have to throw in a few zingers to keep the balance.

So here's a funny story of something that went down today in my Facebook feed.

Long story short: guy I went to HS with is ate the frick up with Trump hate. Gay dude that lives in New York. Also currently one of only three gay friends I have that are anti Trump (had to throw that in there).

Anyway, he is a drama queen that has lost his shite since November. Every other day he posts a screen shot of his phone where he shows all of his NYT "News" notices and of course every single one is anti Trump. He then loses his shite commenting on how crazy this is, how it makes him sad, etc.

Well, for the sake of his mental health, we recommended he just shut it off. Nope. He loves the drama.

So, another friend of mine started taking his posts, waiting three days, then responds about the "news" articles. As you can imagine, since the majority of his shite comes from NYT and CNN, they are easily disproved. For example, his last sreenshot had 7 items. Three days later, my friend was able to show how ALL 7 were either direct lies when printed, or were just speculation articles that are now completely wrong. So, basically, you are getting worked up over nothing and allowing liars to lead you.

What was his response today? frick you, we are no longer friends after 40 years.
