Not a single attacker on your post has the skill your contractor has.

They want you to do without this guy while they play in the sand doing nothing to build or invest in our economy.

What do we do about the other 30 million “very human stories”?

Everyone who rugs on your feels gets a pass?

What’s the limit of “very human stories” allowed in? 1 billion? 2 billion?

This is so awesome.
So let me get this straight, you think that this one contractors actions are representative of what most who come here illegally do while here?
Please tell me you’re not that dumb.

This was in California and the larger builders got slapped on the wrist. Their supervisors got thrown under the bus and served some time. The larger builders made the excuse that our policy is this and the supervisor failed to follow it.

The same thing happened on landfills ran by a national company. The national company wanted illegals hired through national temp agency. ICE busted some landfills. The supervisors went to jail along with the temp agency managers. The temp agency upper mgmt and national company upper mgmt that ran the landfill just got slapped with fines.

This happened under the Obama administration in California of all states.

Yes, I was there as we provided backup for ICE on the raids.

Not sure why that even crossed your mind

my eyes are wide open brother...I've posted on this board since 2003.... my views have evolved somewhat but come on now...I know what comes across the border.

I am just sharing an experience and relationship I have...

kind of disappointing to see several posts, "report him /deport, he's a criminal, a lawbreaker" attitude.

it's like people have no heart, they don't want to hear about anything about the circumstance "Just get him out!"

Maybe I wasn't clear, he came in through a legal port of entry 24 years ago

he had a work permit / visa...he was able to obtain a driver's license.

why he didn't maintain both that I don't know...his daughter suggested it was from not knowing the process, once he lost it, he didn't know how it get it back

I know his brother was murdered in Mexico about 26 years ago, and that's when he decided he would take his little family to the USA...

he came in through the front door...

I don't think our immigration policy should be based on emotion.

Your contractor friend seems like a good guy. Does he pay taxes? Has he done so for his 25 years.

If so, he's someone who should be very welcome in this country. And, if/when the immigration debacle is solved, he will have a way to stay.

But, if he's been here 25 years and hasn't paid federal taxes, I don't give a damn how much you like him. He should be deported.

You invest in China's economy, not ours. You are the definition of a parasite.

If a person robs a bank and you catch them 25 years later do you just say what the hell and let it go? The guy is a fricking criminal and should be dealt with accordingly. He has known all along that he broke the law so frick that guy!

no I don't think so either...but it's difficult when you grow to really appreciate another person who has a talent and skill as well, a good example, a good dad who makes his teens come to the jobsite when teachers have a work day...but "he's illegal"

Like I said, he came in the front door,

he pay taxes, we report his earnings to the IRS...via 1099

Thanks for the story. You’re running into what happens when an individual runs up against a stereotype. You realized that the individual stories matter. To all the people who say report, what is this Nazi Germany or the USSR? People looking to report other people like it’s a badge of honor is a mindset I don’t get. I’m a Christian and I believe we are to take care of people like this.

If I have sex with an adult woman who is passed out and another guy has sex with an 8 year old girl, should we both be punished the same?

Both are rape.

Oh, different crimes have different levels of criminality, culpability, and harm to society?

Well good thing we let the book nerds make the laws instead of an offshore fishing boat captain from Bumfrick, Florida who likes to type tough words for his friends on the internet.

So you send him a 1099, and you think that means that he pays taxes?

He came to America through the front door

had a work visa

but he let it lapse, as I understand it didn't know the process how to renew it...you get up and go to work, life gets away from you....5 years is a blink of the eye these days... not excusing it, I am explaining how uneducated people approach fear of not knowing "what will happen"...they tend to put it off

you still think he's a bad apple and must be sentenced for robbing America?

The fact that you took my post as sincere and did not see the satire speaks volumes about this place

We’ve had our disagreements over the years, but kudos to you for seeing this is not black or white, understanding the gray area, and being man enough to bring it here despite the ridicule and derision.

The IRS gets a copy of his 1099's.

If the taxes aren't paid we get notified to garnish wages....

any contractor in trouble with the IRS, we drop...I am not collecting taxes for the IRS...I got enough to do as a small business
