When you know you have a potential problem, in this case wildfires, and you have a history of this happening you have two choices.

1 - look at ways to reduce the threat. Removing undergrowth by various methods. Putting in firebreaks, increasing water availability and firefighting capabilities. Just a few common sense solutions which are a fraction of the cost of doing nothing.

2 - Do nothing. Blame everyone and everything that has nothing to do with the problem when it bites them on the arse. Vote for people who scream the loudest they can fix it by punishing every (insert liberal moonbat cause that has nothing to do with the problem here), generally re-electing the same ones.

The people collectively in California consistently go with option 2. So while I can have sympathy for an individual, I’m just propping my feet up and eating another marshmallow enjoying the easily preventable misery for the collective.

This is the most easily predicted result of their policies ever. A true FAFO.

well he is absolutely correct. When you know you are subject to these types of situations, you take preventive measures to at least limit the damage. The DEI hires in that shithole of a State are not capable. Sorry if that hurts your progressive feelings.

This is the equivalent of saying that people shouldn't live in Lafayette because Hurricane Laura devastated Lake Charles.

The homes in this area are in known fire prone areas. Its more like people choosing to build their home on the beach.

These are people who live in areas where its not sustainable, I do blame them for that.

Still, its a tragedy, not to be celebrated.

Nah, he’s right. The is the most egregious form of neglect and breach of the social contract between government and its citizens.

California's neglect of the average Joe should inspire Joe Mc Carthy hearings.

This rotten State is negligent and frankly led by ideologies instead of safety.

Its a crime being forced on legal Americans.

I don’t. Those people look down and laugh at us “rednecks living in hurricane country.” I wish them well.

Actually there is probably more “ rednecks “ In California! California is vast and has a lot of hunters and farmers not to mention thousands of acres of forests, woodlands and farm land. You only get to see and hear from San Francisco and LA mostly .

So anytime something bad happens in a big city we just need to all collectively sound like a bunch of retards and say "They voted for this though!"

Just because I can identify the root cause doesn’t mean I lack empathy for these people.

The state and local government made numerous bad decisions which have exacerbated the consequences of the fire. This party was voted into power and have been there for a long time.

Central Valley is Red necks and Mexicans.

By landmass, Rednecks, shite-kickers, Mexican Cowboys, etc. Occupy most of California's surface area. But L.A. and S.F. dominant the small spaces.

California doesn't give a shite about their bread and butter.

I am a shitty person, but it is like spanking your kids when they are young. You do not want to do it and feel bad, but it will make your children grow up to be a better persons.

Spanking your kids does not make them better people.

Louisiana has been red for a long time and generally sucks at most quality of life metrics other than great food, nice people, and LSU football. When is Louisiana going to learn from 150 years of spankings?

90 mph sustained winds coming out of the ESE helped this along. Can politics change natural phenomena?

I haven't paid that close of attention because most of the focus is in Pacific Palisades and areas west of the mountains, but has there been the same type of damage or intensity East of the area up in the canyons and mountains?

You would think that CA —- with all its engineers and science geeks — could have a true “fire suppression system” in the surrounding valleys of L.A.

They do. It's called water. But they flush 95% of the San Joaquin delta into the ocean to "protect" some 2" minnow that no one has seen in 6 years.

If you're having a difficult time having sympathy for fellow Americans there is a pretty simple reason why. It's because you're a shitty person.

I remember sitting around the emergency radio in the wake of Katrina with family who evacuated NOLA listening to Blanco bumfuzzle every thing she touched. The sympathies of people outside of Louisiana didn’t make anyone feel any better about being displaced, or sweating it out for weeks on end. Holding Blanco to task over her actions/inactions, the Corps of Engineers, Nagin, and political corruption in general responsible was the only thing that made a substantive difference long term.

Want to make people feel better? Help them get rid of the garbage political machine in California that is putting them in these positions financially and within their infrastructure that exacerbated all of this in diverting water critical to fighting fires, by making sure pumps are operational, by not cutting funding to fire departments, by allowing environmental nut jobs to keep them from doing controlled burns, from not bankrupting a state that has no business being bankrupt because they blow through tax payer money in order to create their little socialist utopia.

Words and sentiments don’t make people feel better. ACTION does.

Los Angeles County, that single county, has millions more population that the entire states of Louisiana and Mississippi combined.

There are millions of right wing folk that are both affected by these fire events, and who are not doing anything to prevent them.

And they don’t run the show. Democrats do. This is their handiwork.
