So the DOJ tried to strike a plea deal that allowed Hunter immunity from future prosecutions? I'm surprised that the plea deal did not entail immunity for Hunter's dad too.
The judge knows this plea deal is ridiculous but she is trying to find a way to make the proper ruling and simultaneously go home safely.

How do you allow someone to plea on drug charges but not have drug testing as a condition of the agreement?
I guess it’s (D)ifferent

They won't reach that agreement. He'll have to take random drug testing.

plea on drug charges
There are no drug charges. There is a gun charge related to being an addict.

Bingo.
This is just… so….. unexpected.
Just another 3 letter agency doing 3 letter agency things.

Addicted to what?

It was a strange deal from the start, underscored by U.S. District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika asking the prosecution if there was any precedent for the proposed agreement.
“No, your honor,” federal prosecutor Leo Wise responded.

Drugs, but he wasn’t charged with possession or distribution of drugs.

They let him off on lying on the gun application too?

This judge needs to move to a concrete block house with no electricity way in the middle of the mountains of Alaska

Paul Sperry says no deal

US District Judge Maryellen Noreika said she was not ready to accept the plea deal, and the hearing ended with Hunter Biden pleading not guilty for the time being.
The judge asked the sides to file additional briefs explaining the plea deal’s legal structuring.
She's a Trump appointed judge

Part of the plan. Republicans are going to let him walk Scott free with no penalty at all.

I mean no one is above the law.

Sounds a whole lot like a gun charge predicated on drug abuse. Should probably drug test the defendant to ensure they’ve learned something.

You can’t use drugs and buy a gun. He lied on his federal background check. That’s a felony.

Applicants who knowingly make false statements may also face criminal prosecution for a felony and up to 10 years in federal prison.
He needs to do 10 years for this alone.
Will a liberal breaking gun laws be held to their rhetoric and standards? I say no.
