You're reading a book translated from a different language written thousands of years ago, not much of a leap to trust what modern day strangers tell you about it.

You mean the book that teaches you to love your neighbor. Naaah!....... Here we read and re-read the "tweets" from orange Jesus.

In my younger years I was a Bible basher.
Long story short...I can't go a day without the Living Word revealing something new to me and directing me to where Truth lays.
Thank you Dear God for your love and grace you freely throw at me each day.

Not to thread jack but would be grateful for any books or online resources that help with interpreting scripture and provide context to it.
I've already noted everything listed on the preceding pages of the thread.
Thanks very much.

Try to regularly. I have daily prayer and reflection on verses from the bible and Jesus' teachings.

I have a kid on the way. Decided two months ago I would read the Bible cover to cover. It’s become habit now and I really enjoy it.
I had always wanted to since my teen years and finally started doing it. It’s interesting how much it applies to every day life.

Never. Not since I was old enough to tell my parents that I would no longer attend church for indoctrination. Don't even own one.

I have personal Bible study almost every day. Also, I have family devotional with my wife and kids about 2-3 times a week. That, plus church on Sunday morning and evening.
It’s amazing how much better your day goes when you start it off right, with prayer and Bible study with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Honor HIM and he will honor you.
“Seek and ye shall find. Knock and it shall be opened unto you.”

Was like that too. Just a suggestion, trash it or treasure it: Mere Christianity .....book by C.S. Lewis, very readable.

Professor Grant Horner's Reading Bible Plan--
This plan has 10 chapters per day. You’ll read through all the Gospels four times, the Pentateuch twice, Paul’s letters 4-5 times each, the OT wisdom literature six times, all the Psalms at least twice, all the Proverbs as well as Acts a dozen times, and all the way through the OT History and Prophetic books about 1 1/2 times.
This plan is phenomenal, a seminary professor's personal reading plan shared with his students. You get an overview of the Bible by reading in 10 parts of the Bible every day. You can print out bookmarks or sign up for it in a Bible app. I used it for 2018-2020. It took about 40 minutes a day to read. I am taking a break this year so I can read more slowly through select portions, but I will be back on the Horner plan next year.

It is always applicable because the principles and precepts are the bedrock of our existence. It is the Law of God, and God never changes. Always present-tense no matter the timeline. God is the great “I Am”- not the great “I was”, or “I will be”. That is why the Bible is the LIVING Word of God. It is the most unique book in all of time because it will never go “out of date”, and is always applicable to every situation mankind will ever face.
It is the owners manual for existence, if you will. Given straight from the manufacturer of ALL things.
If you are blessed enough to have been given the product of existence, then why would you not make it a point to be intimately familiar with it’s owners manual?
