Money has a way of making things happen.
Tara Wicker’s tax issues managed to get her tossed from the ballot despite LDR normally presuming that the taxpayer did as they claimed and that the department fricked up.
If the money people were to send people looking in certain directions, they could assuredly find ways to get her tossed.

I don’t think they care as long as THEIR money keeps flowing.
If you still have city contracts guaranteed and things done to personally cater to you, you probably don’t give a frick about the regular people.
John Engquist is on record as having wanted to keep his business headquartered in BR despite crime and education being problems for recruitment. He just wants to blame a PERCEPTION of racism for that instead.
