How long can political momentum on a news story be sustained these days?

It seems like the massacre/gun control hysteria is finally being pushed out of the every minute news cycle. While that may be due to the Sheriff's negligence coming to light, I think it's happening on a consistent basis. Hell, look at the pussy grabbing tape, as big as that was at the time, it was only about 10-14 days later that it was out of the cycle. I guess my point is that when people like Toddy or even the memo crazed folk on the right assert that their story will prompt change, it just seems like that isn't possible anymore.

As long as the news media decides. That's why Russia is still being talked about over a year later. They chose to let Vegas die after like 3 days but notice how long we have talked about this massacre. Why are the two different? If anything, Vegas was way more worthy of the coverage in terms of loss of life

one was carried out by a former gov agent

Your point re. Russia is valid, though I'd argue that the open investigation leads itself to the story being in and out of the news.

I predict that something more succulant will come along in the next 48 hours to divert the rabid masses to a new topic.

Terrorist? More gun violence? Sex scandal? Iceberg melting?

It’s only a matter of time.

I have to say it is truly amazing that 24/7 news seems to have had Zero Effect on the breadth of the news coverage

They cover the same amount of stories they covered 40 years ago they just do it for more hours

You had gun control talk for 3 days post vegas then not a peep

In fact the media who's "sources" are deep in the damn White House can't dig up why pollack did what he did?

That's why I laugh when people call conspiracy theorists crazy. Yeah if you see conspiracies under every rock that's a little nutty but don't try to tell me that shady shite doesn't happen.

If everything is an outrage than nothing is an outrage. People just can’t emotionally sustain all these existential crisis plot points. I think more people are becoming disengaged from obsessing about current events on a daily basis. I’ve watched CNN twice since election 2016 . Both times left me needing to shower.

Whatever happened to "Trump was promoting war with North Korea and everyone was running around looking for shelter?

I have a cousin that is blissfully ignorant. She doesn't watch or pay attention to the news. She tends to her timber business with her husband and only cares about the weather and agricultural report. She just doesn't care to be bothered and seems to enjoy photography, fishing and wines. Maybe I'd be better off doing the same. She seems very serene and happy.
