I would guess it’s more of a desire to stay out of a war. Not sure that is laughable. But you do you.

I have less than a year left until retirement and I tell all my guys to get out while the getting is good. There is no incentive to stay in the military any more. Just have them pay for your degree and get the frick out before you get caught up in the next endless war. What's the point in fighting for a country who's leadership shits all over it's core values?

I wouldn't let my son or daughter join today unless they were going to one of the Academies or ROTC. Never as an enlisted soldier.

So you want them obligated for 8 years instead of 3-6?

Were you asleep during 2020? They're doing exactly this and rigging elections to boot.
Give a listen to this tune. It's from the late 1960's, but fits 2021 America to a "T."

Seriously? The service academies are more woke than most Ivy League schools, and the officer corps are filled with what the late David Hackworth referred to as "perfumed princes" who have become pawns and political animals looking for their next promotion. Most of the sanity left in the armed forces is among the enlisted ranks. You know, the ones who do the work and fight the wars.

This is true. I had to put a boot up a young female Butterbar's arse (figuratively) because she told me I have white male privilage.

The perception among our enemies (most notably China and Iran) that America is neutered (pun intended) and our soldiers are an assortment of trannies and queers will propel us into a nasty military confrontation. First nasty military confrontation? Most likely Taiwan.
Creepy Joe Xidens' constant incoherent blabbering doesn't help either.
Elections have consequences.

I think I investigated 11 RI's over my 2 years in command and substantiated 6.
We had a station of all Combat Arms folks. I am pretty sure we would have 11 in one month, but because we always made mission (+ sometimes a few more) they left us alone.

I think it's a natural progression in one's career but like all old times say, the Army now isn't the same as when I joined.
Who else had their mandatory extremism training yet? Had ours yesterday, someone asked why DoD is targeting conservatives and the discussion went off the rails.
I kept quiet, just trying to get to the finish line without being part of any drama.

On one hand, our military is dwindling to feebleness. On the other, we’re ramping up the war machine abroad again.
That’s an odd set of predicaments on this board.
This is their plan to institute a draft. Of course they'll only draft the people they're looking to get rid of. Others will be exempt for one woke reason or another.

Would of loved to have seen this.

Why would anyone want to serve with a bunch of trannies - in 5 years the majority of our military will be gays and Trans. We deserve what we get

I had far more issues with 79Rs (mostly reservists/AGR) than I ever had with detailed recruiters.

You really think 12 gauge shotguns, AR-15, and handguns can go up against tanks, artillery, and air attacks?
Doesn’t matter, all the enemy has to do is sit back and wait. We are doing it for them.
Look at what a bunch of towel heads and rice farmers were able to do against the most powerful military force in the last 60 years. Asymmetrical and guerilla warfare are almost impossible for an organized military force to defeat without borderline genociding the people who live in those areas. It took the Syrian military (which I know is nothing like ours) nearly 5 years how to figure out urban combat.

I wasa Combat Arms (19K) in a small station. But I was in 3rd BDE...no one made mission there. So your planning guide, LRLs, etc better be right because going around 60-65% was the norm. Heck, since so many rolled donuts, if you put 1 GSA in a month, you were golden.
Tons of RIs everywhere. When you were 4 hrs from the closest military installation, Soldiers were off the chain.

We did. My final month in command our entire Battalion, including 6 of the 8 companies, including mine, made mission. Once we got the right station commander in Aurora the company was top 10 in the Brigade and nearly boxed the full year.

Haha. I was in Indianapolis battalion, Bloomington Company from 04 to 07. The ONLY company that did well was Ft. Wayne back then. Louisville, Bloomington. South Bend and Indy Metro North and Indy Metro South never made mission.
You want to talk about some late nights and stressed out 79Rs back then.. And the height of the "TOXIC" USAREC. Of over 20 years as an M1A2 Abrams rank commander, the craziest things I ever saw was a detailed, voluntold recruiter.

I would say 2nd Brigade during the initial implementation of TRC was far more stressed out...and I was in Chicago Battalion, so it is possible.
South Bend became part of our Battalion in 2008 and Milwaukee Battalion took Loves Park.
