I think we're a long way from that, because the left doesn't care if the military is weakened or it shrinks. And their base, at least the honest ones (yeah, I know), will have a strong reaction against any talk of a draft. The only way they'd accept it is if it were somehow punitive and targeted middle class straight white males.

No, they don’t want middle class whites. Driving them out is exactly what they want. Middle class whites are now the enemy. You don’t populate the ranks of your army with the enemy. You need your army to kill the enemy not sympathize with them.

I’ve often seen people say that the army would never go along with cracking down on the American people. That’s absolutely true of the 2005 army. But what about the army of 2025 or 2030? I think that is a whole lot less clear.
God, I hate use the NAZIs, but they went from Hitler losing an election to loading Jews on trains, or anyone else who expressed doubts about the Nazi party in about eight years.

The detailed recruiter doesn't have to answer those questions, his station commander, company commander, battalion commander...have to.

I’m concerned the next major war the military fights will be to rid America of freedom.
So seeing the military get depleted doesn’t bother me as much as it did a year ago.

There's some opportunity here if you look for it.
Once we can get the conservatives to shift from loyalty to the DoD to more scrutiny we can finally look to trim much of the fat from the DoD.
None of those DoD contractors in Northern VA give two shits about our freedoms.
Oh...and most citizens would be outraged to know how many lazy GS-14s/15s are in the DMV area just chilling making $140k doing nothing.

Think about who joins the military and who is currently in it. There's a reason why the military votes overwhelmingly for republicans. Not a lot of testosterone-deficient dudes lined up outside the recruiting offices. If things continue at the pace, without a draft, we'll see a military full of dudes wearing female uniforms. The guy who would've joined before, won't and will go on to law enforcement, fire fighting, or some other trade.

I don’t think that has been true for a long time except in combat arms. Now I would say that it is probably only true in the 82nd, Ranger bats, and maybe special forces. And those are well in their way to being converted as well.

Oh, I agree with that! That's how someone like Col. Vindman got to his position. At this point, I think it's becoming clear that the people making these decisions, are doing so to purposefully weaken our military.
