i wouldn't address how much of the personnel costs went to the owner in that hypothetical either
If an owner moves money to himself as income, he now owes taxes on that income.
Just sayin.
So. Bottom line to this thread. You're not really sure how taxes work for corporations, but, you're pretty sure they're bad.
And, you expect other people to compromise with you and people like you on it.........but, you can't tell them what you specifically would like done other than to say, "stop doing the stuff I don't like".
And NOW, you want to make a business pay taxes on portions of their revenue without subtracting out the cost of keeping the doors open!

So hey. For fun.
Sample Widget Business(easiest tax form ever) Revenue $10M
Total Personnel costs $5M
Property Costs $1M
Production Costs $3M
We'll pretend there's nothing else. What is the amount Machine wants me to base their taxes upon?
Just for Machine. Let's have fun.
Turns out, "personnel costs" are pure salaries. Owner made $2.5M
Have at it Machine.
Should be awesome.

I have noticed that Dems in Congress LOVE the word "deeply"

not sure how many more times i can spell out my position only to have you not be able to comprehend it

id be fine with not removing the income tax for business owners who paid themselves a salary that reduced the company's profit to zero

Thing is, you're inevitably going to always be chasing your tail on stuff like this because people are (shockingly, I know) resourceful.

So. You would have the owner pay personal income taxes on his salary.........and The business pay tax on that money too.
ROFLMAO
K. Thanks. I knew it
Oh. And that still had nothing to do with exxon or GE........taxes that you CLEARLY couldn't begin to explain

You never see Dems say "this is a great compromise" without huge concessions from Rs. Don't pretend that my comments were inaccurate.
the reverse is also true
Tell me when any Rs have NOT made huge concessions. They have been caving for over a decade. It's habitual.

Defenestration (or the verb form, defenestrate) remains one of my favorite words to drop in (although I use it sparingly). It can work in political discussions, although the word itself is apolitical.
