How do you guys defend Trump on trade?

My best friend lost his job at a BMW plant in South Carolina because of the trade wars and tariffs. It’s like he’s afraid of being wrong and humiliated for not understanding how economics work. This board is so biased and it’s laughable. I’m out.

I've had hundreds of friends GET jobs because of Trump's trade policies. So, there you go. Trump wins again.

If I want a BMW, I'm going to make me purchase in Germany. I can save enough by purchasing there that it pays for the trip to go spend a week in Europe. Sucks that your buddy lost his job. He should have studied harder and made something of his life instead of working on an assembly line.

I’m not going to say you’re lying, but a quick google search has shown the BMW plant in South Carolina was planning on adding jobs as recently as last month. If your best friend lost his job, it doesn’t seem like it’s due to layoffs based on the threat of tariffs.
