You can do whatever you want but I don't believe the governor making a decision for all. If you want to hang it on your porch or tree. That's all you. I doubt you will though.

How do you feel about celebrating Independence Day? And explain why one group of states wanting independence ( from England) is any different from another group of states wanting independence??? Bottom line is it’s not different.

I'm not so sure you are right about the old flag remaining the same if there were a vote today. The state has a 37% black population and the last vote was close to 20 years ago. I think a lot of those hard liners have died off.

I’m not necessarily saying you’re wrong, but I know this state well. Our population has remained incredibly stagnant for 2 decades. How many enlightened people do you project have moved here over that time frame. I think it is to the contrary, and anyone with a lick of sense, or gets lucky for a career, gets the hell out.

The black population was 37% back then too you know. You know that my honest impression of black Mississippians opinion of the flag is throughout my life? By and large they don’t give a shite, or they forget about it, or perhaps even so used to their plight they just think that’s how things are. Sad? Yes, but that is how it feels.

All I’m saying is if you seriously want to change the flag you better be dead certain you have the votes, and I just don’t think we are there yet. Another vote ending in failure would be an unimaginable embarrassment.

What is different about today is I think we would see a HARD push from out of state liberals to inform the black population and get out the vote. But you know what else has changed? Everyone’s pappy and meemaw have a Facebook and they will get equally if not more determined to vote to spite what they see as carpetbagger meddling from coastal elites.

Do not underestimate the stubbornness of the people of this state.

That isn't necessarily a bad thing. We went through our own issues with the flag recently and it wasn't a pleasant one. It does always make me laugh though to hear establishment politicians rail against the evils of the Confederacy when the American government they represent engages in more state sponsored violence and subjugation around the world than the Confederacy ever did. Our foreign policy of permanent war and support for human rights abusers like Saudi Arabia speaks for itself.

Why are you directing this shite at me? Have you read anything I’ve said?

FWIW announcing a “confederate heritage month” is dumb. Never ever heard of it until reading this thread. It’s just trying to piss people off.

If the sons of confederate veterans want to hold a Hitler style rally in some random building more power to them. They can do whatever we want, thanks to the constitution the Yankees kept in tact for us.

I don’t think it’s stupid as frick for an official as public as the governor to be seen at such an event, but Tate Reeves is a coward and a leech. He would suck both our dicks at the same time for a few hundred bucks. As long as SOCV has members with money, and he knows no one in this state will hold him accountable, it won’t stop. It’s that simple.

I agree, and think it it a good thing the majority of the time. Southerners in general still have their stubborn skepticism and I think it would be us to put the foot down if shite were to ever truly hit the fan in this country.

My point was all the people that bitch about the flag, and I never said I want it kept, better be fricking certain of their success before going down that road again because they will be stuck standing with their dicks in their hands one again.
