Bacause the DNC would do everything they could behind the scenes to squash the campaign finances of anyone who did. This is where the people who say both parties are the same are wrong. Democrats behave as one group. Their entire way of thinking is thinking in terms of groups. Republicans still behave as individuals and their line of thinking still revolves around individuals.
