When î recruited college age kids do for summer work I learned to avoid hiring from certain places because the kids weren't adventurous and generally mamas boys.

Best came from mountain states and the Great Lakes. The South and East were terrible. No sense of adventure, homesick and didn't assimilate.

I'm noticing the bigger the campus the softer the student. The point of the OP is that I have noticed about the same attitude among most of the minority kids over time but the white kids are notably softer.

BTW, to the dipshits... I'm about done with filling my spots. An observation is an observation. I noticed a similar mindset in my own kids and have decided to change it. They are badasses on the field, but have little work ethic around the house because much is taken care of for them. No more... and we better fix that shite as a society. We can't run our own houses like the government runs big cities.

I'm blacker than Elizabeth Warren is Cherokee... which isn't saying much

Different issue, but that hasn't changed much in the last couple decades.

Having an opinion about the state of White teens in 2019 is not a racist tirade.

Instead of telling the guy that he's "racist", you should just see where he's coming from. Maybe we might actually learn how to have realistic relationships if we stop taking like 90% of the world's actual opinion about shite off the table at the start.

If I make the tirade about observations on the black students, THEN I'd definitely be considered racist... but I havent seen much of a change in them over time.

The WHITE kids are the ones getting noticeably softer. We are treating them as parents like liberals treat their constituents. It's benevolent and stuff, but the coddling is having a negative effect. Some in this thread have called it good parenting. Liberals would say the same about government programs, and the "good parenting" crowd would say the liberals are full of shite. Coddling is coddling, no matter who does it.

Oh yeah, you were being selfish and got pissed because he didnt want to work at the location you wanted him to.

Youre a racist piece of shite. frick you.

Now go make me a taco bitch

Not pissed. I'm just fine. I see where you get that though, i typed it on my non-Obamaphone.

We hate government programs in part because they have this effect over time on populations, albeit while stealing our money to do it. We treat our kids the same way, oblivious to the effects over time. I'm worried about the long-term implications of it. I'm just fine with my comparatively short-term needs.

Are you making a racial point here? I don't see where you spoke to any of the HBCU's "daddy"s.

Tell that to all the inner city kids (I won’t specify race because that’s stupid) who stay poor in the city instead of moving to and oil boom town to make $25-$30 in construction or even $15-$20 in the service industry... and there’s no reason to call out any generation on this because there’s adults that live poor to stay in the same place when they could just move to go where they can make a decent living.

This country is lazy. A large percentage at least. There’s many opportunities to better yourself and make a decent living but people don’t want to leave their comfort zone. Every race. Every age group.

Can't argue there.

Came across fricked up... Meant for a wake up call. Just like liberals supporting govt, successful folks do their kids a disservice by making things too easy. It hurts over time, and my op was in response to the long term effects.

Yeah it was a dick post

It was meant to be over the top

It is more like his brag thread that he travels the country filling jobs. It also allows him to bash the hire people.

I can’t imagine why college students aren’t jumping at the chance to spend their summer spraying for bugs while living in a motel thousands of miles from home, especially with a great boss like you

There is no question though, that White men are the core of combat arms.

I think it should be noted that some folks cling to the essentially true allegation that blacks were disproportionally relegated to combat roles (and therefore had higher casualties) in Vietnam, at least in 1965 and 1966.

After protests and lobbying, blacks were suffering a more proportional casualty rate by 1969.

But, today it's reversed for a variety of reasons we've been discussing here (this topic may deserve its own thread, rather than hijacking this one, too, baws.)

Makes sense to me sir.

I think it is worth it's own thread. I find it really interesting how many millenial men are joining combat arms/SOF after college or or grad school. A whole bunch of stuff goes into it, but this is a unique period in modern military history IMO. Very interesting.

I have to admit, it was a half-assed post on my phone. For an OP I usually would edit a bit but I said frick it, lazy delivery for lazy topic

The overall point being... We think we are helping our kids by providing all this, but we are delaying their adulthood. "Failure to launch" is real, and I'm seeing it more and more. Whether government or parents do it, the effect is the same. When they get used to being provided for, they are also more susceptible to the influence of their socialist professors. We are creatures of habit.
