re: Help me under the illegal immigration debate

I'm retiring soon and would love to move to Italy. The problem is, they won't let me just waltz in and set up living. I have retirement money and still I have to go through all this ridiculous redtape, bureaucratic hoops, and get PERMISSION from the Italian government to move. Why can't I just move in? What's wrong with that? Why are they so racist?

I got a good taste of that from my step son.

I stood and watched him while we worked in the yard together. He was struggling with an extension cord hung up beneath the rear tire of my pick up.

Stopped the lawn mower, coiled up the cord and tossed it around the back of tire…..instant 100 feet of free cord.

Not kidding……

Thought my neighbor was going to bust a gut……had to go inside.

The people you describe, asylum seekers, are all legal immigrants. As legal asylum seeking immigrants, they are granted both residency and work status until their asylum applications can be adjudicated.

However, US immigration law does not have adequate procedures in place to rapidly and effectively adjudicate asylum applicants. This deficiency in US law has created a loophole whereby immigrants who do not have legitimate asylum claims can simply apply for asylum and enter legally. The law needs to change in this area.
