Hearing about voters not being able to vote.... Paper ballots

Does this not scare the hell out of you hearing that our technological advanced country can't put a 100% election together, WITHOUT using any type of paper ballots due to mess ups? In fact, now I'm scared of technology because they can cheat just as easy, maybe even easier. I just start to smell cheating like crazy. I do not trust people. Sorry about the skepticism, but I know what happens when people and politics mix.

Several polling locations in eastern Tennessee were forced to use paper ballots on Tuesday amid a power outage that affected parts of the state on Election Day.
CBS News affiliate WVLT reported that several locations near Knoxville were without power as a result of storms that passed over the area early in the day.
One location, Cedar Bluff Middle School in Knoxville, was without power and saw its backup generator fail, forcing election officials to distribute paper ballots and voters to complete them outside in the sunlight, according to CNN. LINK

I just tried to vote, have voted many times and it has been at the same place for the last 6 years. This time however they said my name was not on the list. Not just for that particular polling place but not listed in the county I live in. I had to go to a completely different location and do an affidavit to vote.(How many people would have just left and said "to hell with it"?) Side note, both places I had to go to and from what everyone here at work says it has all been paper ballots. (Mississippi)

You're in Jackson, so incompetence from the poll workers is my first suspicion.

Well, in Rankin county so while incompetence is there, it is not as bad as the actual city of Jackson or Hinds county.

Technology is still run on electricity and 1’s and 0’s, no matter how advanced. Have someone trip over the wrong extension cord and anything can go down. Paper will always be the backup. Credit card machines down? Better have cash. Phone is dead? Better print your boarding pass. We shouldn’t expect elections to be any different.
Limitless paper, in a paperless world.

Our county (Denton TX) had an electronic system (for scanning in photo ID and finding the precinct) but it printed out a PAPER ballot specific to my precinct. (And no it wasn't filled out for me--we're a GOP dominant county)

Funny how it only affects heavy GOP precincts. Notice that??

I voted in Jackson earlier today and had no issue. Walked in, handed the young man my ID, he scanned it, I signed, he gave me a piece of paper to give to another lady who handed me my paper ballot. Filled it in and placed it into the scanning machine, done. In and out in less than 5 minutes.
